HydraFacial: A Deep Spring Cleaning for Your Skin

HydraFacial: A Deep Spring Cleaning for Your Skin

Spring cleaning is almost upon us, and what better way to start than by giving your skin a deep, nourishing cleaning with a HydraFacial. This multistep facial treatment is typically performed with a proprietary machine — HydraFacial MD® — manufactured by technology leader, Edge Systems.

At Oral & Facial Surgery of Mississippi, oral and maxillofacial surgeon and licensed HydraFacial provider Dr. Michael Nichols and our staff offer HydraFacial treatments to our patients in the Flowood area. If you’re looking for a non-invasive way to achieve smoother-looking skin, this cosmetic option may be right for you.

What is a HydraFacial, and what does it do?

The HydraFacial is a medical-grade resurfacing treatment that addresses a wide variety of skin problems, from fine lines and wrinkles to age spots to acne breakouts. It cleanses, exfoliates, and extracts skin debris using a highly effective suctioning device, then hydrates with serums infused into the pores with a pen-like device called the HydraPeel Tip.

According to the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, the HydraFacial resembles another cosmetic treatment called microdermabrasion, which uses a mild abrasive to gently sand your skin and remove the uneven outer layer. But it differs from microdermabrasion in two key ways. First, the HydraFacial pairs exfoliating with a suctioning device to remove debris and dead skin cells from your pores, making it more efficient. Second, it uses nourishing, hydrating serums to smooth and plump your skin.

What are the steps of a HydraFacial MD treatment?

When you come into Oral & Facial Surgery of Mississippi for a HydraFacial, we use the proprietary machine from Edge Systems to give you the best and most beneficial experience. There are four steps for the treatment:

1. Cleansing and exfoliation

We apply a cleansing serum to your skin, then gently exfoliate the outermost layer. This step sets you up for the rest of the treatment.

2. Gentle peel

We use glycolic and salicylic acid on your skin to loosen impurities and debris trapped in your pores. The process is so gentle, you won’t experience any post-treatment peeling.

3. Vacuum extraction

Using the HydraPeel Tip, we create a suctioning force that ejects debris and impurities from your pores without the poking or pinching found in other systems.

4. Hydration

At the same time we suction, we also introduce serums containing antioxidants and peptides that provide instant hydration. These serums are geared toward your aesthetic goals, such as reducing hyperpigmentation, fine lines, and wrinkles; shrinking enlarged pores; or invigorating dull skin.

There’s no downtime after HydraFacial MD treatments, so you can go right back to your daily routine. Scheduling in periodic treatment sessions can give you healthier-looking skin long term.

If your face could use a deep spring cleaning, call Oral & Facial Surgery of Mississippi at 601-282-9290 to schedule a HydraFacial treatment.
